​In the 2023 MLB Draft, the Mets drafted a two-way player out of Oklahoma State in the third-round named Nolan McLean.

The Mets drafted him for his two-way upside, though they mainly envisioned him as an outfielder built around his offensive potential.

He was coming off four-straight seasons with an OPS over .900 throughout his four collegiate years at Oklahoma State and Chatham.

No one, and I think no one, expected the quick and incredible rise of McLean’s pitching.
